Topps tiene nuevo dueño. Se llama Michael Rubin y es el creador de Fanatics, una empresa de ropa deportiva de Estados Unidos que ha pagado 500 millones de dólares (algo más de 440 millones de euros) por hacerse con la propiedad de la editorial de coleccionables.
La compra de Topps por parte de Fanatics también afecta a Europa. La empresa de merchandising deportivo tiene ahora también los derechos de la UEFA y de la Fórmula 1, además de la NBA, MLB o la NFL en EE.UU. Desde Cromo World nos hemos puesto en contacto con empleados de Topps, pero desconocen más detalles a excepción de lo anunciado esta semana.
Anteriormente, los propietarios de Topps eran las empresas Madison Dearborn y Tornante Company, propiedad del ex presidente de Disney, Michael Eisner. Además, en España, el Atlético de Madrid tiene un acuerdo firmado con Fanatics hasta 2025, para expandir la venta de sus productos por todo el mundo.
